These patented devices for fluid delivery or sample uptake have been developed based on state-of-the-art
bio MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical System) technology. The core device is a single-use disposable silicon microchip,
with integrated hollow microneedle comparable in size to a human hair and microfluidic chamber. It can puncture skin,
biological membranes and thin wall sections. It can draw in a sub-microliter sample fluid reliably into the
chamber of the chip automatically by capillary force. By integrating selected chemistries into the microchip,
on-board assays can be performed without manual fluid transfer. With a simple system, it can deliver precise
volumes of even viscous fluids rapidly. Below are examples of potential applications.
